Age 87, of Inver Grove Heights
Passed Away Peacefully on July 9, 2019
Preceded in death by husband Jack and sister Marion Larson. Survived by children JoAnn Griefnow, Susan (Richard) Ross, and Thomas Griefnow; grandchildren Angela Ross, Sandra (Mathew Hjerpe) and Billy Ross: great grandsons Hayden and Hunter Hjerpe; sister Grace Burhans and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 16th, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Clark Grace United Church of Christ, 779 15th Ave North, South St. Paul, MN. Visitation will be held prior to service from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Gloria was born in St. Paul, to parents Emily Bodlak (Konerza) whose family came to the U.S. from
Czechoslovakia and Otto Bodlak who came from Domasin, Czechoslovakia to the U.S. in 1912 after the Bodlak family lived in that area for over 15 generations.
Gloria graduated from Monroe High School, then went on to complete a 4 year college degree at the
University of Minnesota for home economics, science, nutrition, sewing, specializing in cooking, she graduated in 1954.
Jack Griefnow married Gloria in January of 1955. Gloria's hobbies included: gardening, sewing, baking, reading, playing games, walking, crossword and word search puzzles, spending time with her children and grandchildren, she was also a wonderful pianist. Gloria was a dedicated christian and deeply devoted to Church and made sure all her children attended weekly. She also volunteered her time teaching sunday school and working in the office of Clark Memorial United Church of Christ, then became employed as a secretary in the office at TMI Coatings where she remained for several decades.
Gloria's children have thanked God many times for being blessed with such a kind, patient, and caring mother who lived her life with Gods love in her heart. There is no doubt by the way Gloria lived her life that she is one of the closest to our Lord God in all heavenly places.
