Condolence: On the up coming anniversary of Don's passing I have to say I still expect to see him and Barbara working in there yard this spring. I was lucky t o meet Don as he volunteered to be the president of Oakhill cemetery. He was a very kind and intelligent person. The kind of person that knew what had to be done now and not deal with red tape !. I wanted to share a bottle of whiskey with him but time did not allow us. Steve (oakhill cemetery)
Condolence: During the last couple of years I have had the pleasure of helping with some administrative work on the democracy movement, Move to Amend, with Barbara Gerten in her home, and so spent time with Don as well. During this time Don was growing weaker. He was usually focused on saving seeds and growing vegetables. Last spring he gave me some yellow pear tomato plants grown from seed. As he did so, he told me: “What bothers me is that Barbara is ending up with all the work.” I feel privileged to have witnessed Don and Barbara’s peaceful and productive home, and their respectful loving partnership. My heartfelt condolences to Barbara and the entire family.
